Late in 2002 I was sitting alone in my room chatting with my good friend Gwen. We had absolutely nothing better to do, so just off the top of our heads we decided to create some kind of religion.I myself had always dreamed of a way to spread my beliefs, most of which I owe to the teachings of my mom, to others that are blinded by the false teachings of religion. So I thought long and hard for an hour or so and came up with many different possible names for this "religion". At last I choose the one name that sounded nice and had a familiar abbreviation. The Society for the Opposition of Allegiance to Religion or S.O.A.R. seemed perfect.
After Gwen and I concluded that S.O.A.R would be the name of our new society, I got online and wrote up a brief summary of our ideas on a geocities site.
I guess you can sort of say that S.O.A.R started off as a project caused by boredom and developed into a recognized society for various people.
